Analysis on reliability and validity of an adult COVID-19 vaccination questionnaire based on protection motivation theory
Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of an adult COVID-19 vaccination questionnaire based on protection motivation theory,so as to provide strategic basis for relevant behavioral intervention. Methods From Sep-tember to November 2021,the 3 122 samples were collected in urban and rural residents aged 18 and above in Shandong province by using a combination of multi-stage random and convenient sampling.Structural validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity were used to evaluate the validity of the adult COVID-19 vaccination questionnaire based on pro-tection motivation theory, and the reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated by Cronbach's α coefficient and half relia-bility.Results Five common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribu-tion rate of the common factors was 74.570%.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that:ratio ofx2to de-gree of freedom(x2/df)=2.595,root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA)=0.032,incremental fit index(IFI)=0.922,Tucker-Lewis index(TLI)=0.912,parsimony goodness-of-fit index(PGFI)=0.758 and parsimoni-ous normed fit index(PNFI)=0.782.The analysis of convergent validity showed that:factor loadings>0.70,squared multiple correlations(SMC)>0.50,composite reliabilities(CR)>0.70,average variance extracted(AVE)values>0.50.The AVE of each dimension was greater than the square of its correlation coefficient with other dimen-sions.Cronbach's α coefficient for questionnaire dimensions was between 0.876 and 0.957,and the half reliability was be-tween 0.846 and 0.928.Conclusion The adult COVID-19 vaccination questionnaire based on protection motivation the-ory had good reliability and validity, which could be used to evaluate the residents'COVID-19 vaccination protection moti-vation.
