Survey on iodine nutritional status of pregnant women in Xiamen city from 2020 to 2022
Objective To understand the iodine salt consumption and the iodine nutritional level of pregnant women in Xiamen city of Fujian province during 2020 to 2022,so as to provide basis for adjustment and formulation of prevention and control strategies of iodine deficiency disorders.Methods In 2020 to 2022,pregnant women in the 6 districts of Xiamen city were randomly selected,and salt samples were collected from the homes of pregnant women and urine samples were taken once at random during the day to test for salt iodine and urine iodine content in accordance with"Monitoring Program for Iodine Deficiency Disease"in Fujian province.Results A total of 1 854 edible salt samples and urine samples were collected.The coverage rate of iodized salt was 95.6%,and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt was 94.0%,both of which showed a downward trend(x2 trend=8.84 and 13.05,P<0.01).The medians of urinary iodine of pregnant women was 146.0 µg/L,and the urinary iodine level showed a downward trend(F=5.98,P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in urinary iodine level among urban,suburban and rural pregnant women(H=3.11,P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in urinary iodine level among pregnant women of differ-ent ages(Z=-1.86,P>0.05).Conclusion The iodine nutritional status of pregnant women in generally at an inade-quate level in Xiamen city.
