Research progress on the effect of physical activity on the life quality of patients with ankylosing spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis(AS)is a chronic systemic inflammatory immune disease primarily affecting peripheral joints and vertebroshoulder joints. The main symptoms of patients are intractable low back pain and low back stiffness, which can lead to severe chronic pain and signs of ankylosis in the late stage, resulting in behavioral dysfunction and seri-ously affecting the quality of life.Studies suggest that consistent adherence to planned physical activity has been shown to enhance spinal and lower limb flexibility, sustain physical function, prevent deformities or ankylosis, effectively alleviate pain, and improve sleep disorders and emotional well-being in AS patients. This article reviews the current epidemiological studies regarding the quality of life in patients with AS and its relationship with physical activity, providing programs for prognostic studies.
