Research progress on the role of inflammatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of neurobrucellosis
Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by Brucella. The main clinical manifestations of human bru-cellosis are fever, hyperhidrosis, joint pain and hepatosplenomegaly. In the acute and chronic stages of brucellosis, about 1.7%-10%patients have nervous system involvement.Bacterial invasion of the central nervous system or endotoxin will stimulate the central immune cells or enter the peripheral immune cells of the central nervous system due to the destruc-tion of the blood-brain barrier, resulting in inflammatory reactions. This paper provides a review of previous research pro-gress on important inflammatory cytokines interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-2,IL-6,IL-12,IL-18,IL-10,IL-8,IFN-γ and TNF-α in neurobrucellosis.
