Analysis on typing characteristics and drug resistance of Salmonella Enteritidis isolated from patients with diarrhea in Weifang city,Shandong province from 2020 to 2023
Objective To investigate the antimicrobial resistance and molecular genotyping of 48 Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis(S.Enteritidis)clinical strains isolated from patients with diarrhea from 2020 to 2023 in Weifang city,Shandong province,so as to provide a data support for the early warning and prevention of Salmonella Enteritidis. Methods Salmonella strains were collected from the sentinel hospitals of Chinese Pathogen Identification Net form 2020 to 2023 in Weifang city of Shandong province, and serotyping was performed. Then 48 Salmonella Enteritidis strains were randomly selected to carry out drug sensitivity tests,Pulse Field Gel Electrophoresis(PFGE),Multi-locus Sequence Typ-ing(MLST),Single Nucleotide Polymorphism(SNP)based on whole genome sequencing(WGS).Drug sensitivity experi-ments was conducted on 17 antibiotics against Salmonella enterica by using the micro broth method. Results In the 48 Salmonella Enteritidis,24 PFGE patterns were detected, with similarity of 48.61%to 100%,and 34 strains of Salmonella Enteritidis formed 10 clusters.MLST was all ST11 types. There were 3 clusters on the basis of WGS-SNP phylogenetic tree. The 48 Salmonella Enteritidis strains were all resistance to nalidixic acid(100%).The intermediary rate to ciprofloxacin was highest(89.6%).The 48 Salmonella Enteritidis strains were all sensitive to ceftazidime/avibac-tam and tigecycline. The overall multi-drug resistance rate was 97.9%,showing 17 multi-drug resistance spectrums, with AMP+AMS+CT+NAL+STR as the dominant resistance spectrum. Conclusion The multidrug resistance of Salmonella Enteritidis is common in Weifang city from 2020 to 2023,and there is no obvious consistency between PFGE banding and drug resistance spectrum.WGS-SNP can better distinguish strains with different drug resistance,or even strains with the same drug resistance.
