As a treasure of the Chinese nation,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)boasts rich philosophies and a humanistic spirit.A Dictionary of the Chinese Language,compiled by Robert Morrison as the world's first Chinese-English and English-Chinese dictionary in the early 19th century,includes terms concerning Chinese politics,history,geography,religion,medicine,and other aspects,thereby serving as an encyclopedia of Chinese culture.This study aims to explore Robert Morrison's TCM translation activities for the Western world.It examines which TCM terms Morrison translated and delves into the motives behind,methods employed in,and influences stemming from his translations,with the hope of providing detailed insights into the translation of TCM classics and their overseas dissemination in modern times.
