SHEN Pingzhou was a renowned doctor during the Jia-Dao period of the Qing dynasty in the Wu Zhong district.Aside from research into the inheritance and treatment experiences of the Wumen School and the Shicai School, there has been little systematic study of SHEN Pingzhou's life. After textual research, his father,SHEN Wenying, died early. His mother has a surname of LU,and his brother was SHEN Shizhu. In his youth,SHEN Pingzhou studied medicine under his grandfather SHEN Xinbo and was a disciple of the famous doctor XU Jin.He mastered the essence of various medical schools'ideas, particularly excelling in the treatment of warm diseases. The original four volumes of Zilaitang Medical Records by SHEN Pingzhou have been lost, although some copies remain.Contrary to most previous research that identifies SHEN Pingzhou as the fifth-generation inheritor of the Shicai Regions School, biographies and local chronicles suggest that he was unlikely to have been YOU Zaijing's direct disciple.Nonetheless,SHEN Pingzhou was deeply influenced by YOU Zaijing's approach to syndrome differentiation and the principles of the warming and tonifying school.
