The greatest value of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)lies in two aspects:first,it offers a perspective that is largely complementary to modern medicine;second,it provides a methodology that greatly complements modern medical practices.TCM practitioners should bear in mind that only by first becoming a mirror to modern medicine can they qualify for an equal dialogue with it.When the research perspectives of both Chinese and Western medicine are maximally complementary can each serve as a mirror to the blind spots of the other.It is essential to seize the opportunity presented by the transformation of mainstream modern medicine,clarify and reconstruct the theoretical concepts of TCM as soon as possible,and construct an independent discourse system and knowledge framework.On this basis,TCM could achieve a convergence between the discourse systems of itself and Western medicine.TCM's unique value,particularly in acupuncture and moxibustion,should be presented in a complete and clear manner that is easily understood by modern medicine.By doing so,TCM can secure the right to engage in equal dialogues with mainstream modern medicine,and facilitate effective and efficient exchange and learning between the two.This will ultimately contribute significantly to the creation of a new medical system in the future,offering an irreplaceable role in its development.
