During the Republic of China,with the help of the rise of the periodical industry,the collection,compilation,and study of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)proven formulas continued to develop,and presented a new path and new pattern different from those of the traditional era.There were new ways to collect proven formulas through periodicals such as Dan Fang Hui Bao(《丹方汇报》Compilation of Formulas of Elixirs),and regional ways to sort out and popularize proven formulas through publishing Shen Cha Zheng Ji Yan Fang(《审查征集验方》Examination and Collection of Proven Prescriptions).There were also some new styles,such as Zhong Xi Yan Fang Xin Bian(《中西验方新编》A New Compilation of Traditional Chinese and Western Proven Formulas).Yan Fang Ji Yao(《验方辑要》A Summary of Proven Formulas)compiled by the Central Library of National Medicine,which could be regarded as a sign that the government attached importance to the existence of TCM formulas.This study reviews the influence of the rise of periodical industry on the collection and dissemination of TCM proven formulas during the Republic of China,to grasp the evolution and characteristics of the traditions of proven formulas during the modern era.
