Exploration of Chinese Physician Leung Kok Yuen's Contributions to Overseas Traditional Chinese Medicine:Based on the Examination of the Collections from the Museum of Western Studies on Chinese Medicine
Leung Kok Yuen(梁觉玄),a Chinese medical practitioner,studied Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)under the guidance of his father from an early age,mastering the true essence of Qihuang medical arts.He was also deeply influenced by several representatives of the Chengjiang School,and is considered a prominent figure in the overseas dissemination of TCM in the modern and contemporary periods.The Museum of Western Studies on Chinese Medicine at Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine has set up a memorial corridor dedicated to Leung Kok Yuen,showcasing his photos,business cards,qualifications,newspaper clippings related to his overseas medical practice,and other collectibles.The textual and oral materials in the collection illustrate how overseas Chinese,in the second half of the 20th century,represented by Leung Kok Yuen,actively and passively contributed to the construction of the overseas academic system,disciplinary system,and discourse system of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion.His overseas medical practice experience offers important insights for the current efforts in the international dissemination of TCM.
