The remote location and poor transportation are the main causes for the lack of inscriptions and poems of ancient Yungang Grottoes.And the number of inscriptions of Yungang Grottoes temple has soared since the Ming dynasty,largely due to the strategic prominence of Datong in the particular historical background of the Ming and Qing dynasties,as well as the phenomenon of scholars who were relegated to garrison and literati on official duty.Based on the collection of poems and articles related to the Ming and Qing dynasties,the collection of literati,local chronicles and historical records and other documents,this paper makes a cross-sectional compilation of the poems and inscriptions in Yungang grottoes in the Ming and Qing dynasties,which is beneficial to the comprehensive promotion of the sorting and research of Yungang documents and the discussion of relevant academic issues of Yungangnology.
