Advances on MOF and COF Membranes for Heavy Metal Separation and Desalination
The structurally tailored metal/covalent organic framework(MOF/COF)materials and their po-tential for efficient permeability have drawn substantial interest in the field of separation and desalination.Current advances to control the chemical structure and functionality in nanomaterials have promoted the de-velopment of MOF/COF membranes with unique atomic thickness, effective support fixation, and excel-lent mechanical properties. In this review,we provide a comprehensive review of design strategies,perfor-mance,and applications of MOF-based membranes and COF-based membranes in the separation field,es-pecially the surface properties of membranes and the transmission performance of nanostructures in heavy metal ion separation and desalination. The encountered opportunities and challenges in the future develop-ment of MOF/COF membranes and membrane separation technologies presented, providing future direc-tions for the rational design and application research of membrane materials.
