Identification of solid waste properties of imported recycling copper-containing metal materials
As the gap of copper metal resources in China continues to increase, the foreign dependence is growing. Therefore, the accurate and efficient identification of imported recycling materials for copper is particularly necessary. In this paper,a rapid inspection and identification process for imported recycling copper-containing metal materials was established.Three typical cases of imported recycling copper-contai-ning metal materials were studied. In accordance with GB/T 38471-2019 Recycling Materials for Copper, the radioactive pollutants, apparent characteristics, foreign material content, moisture content, total metal content, metallic copper content, copper content, metal recycling rate and other indicators were tested to complete the source analysis of samples. Then the solid waste properties were identified in accordance with GB 34330-2017 Identification standards for solid waste General rules. The identification results showed that sample 1 was derived from the residual materials generated by copper processing or production process of downstream enterprises,as well as household appliances, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and heat exchangers, after dismantling and sorting, which could meet the standard requirements for recycling materials for copper, and it belonged to non-solid waste.Sample 2 was enameled wire and other copper-con-taining mixed materials from different specifications/models of motors, electrical appliances and transform-ers dismantled without stripping to remove the insulating layer, which was a solid waste that had lost its o-riginal value of use.Sample 3 was a mixture of waste hardware and waste scrap containing non-ferrous met-als that had not been dismantled, sorted, processed and cleaned, and belonged to the waste metal that had lost its original function and could no longer be used,so they were solid wastes.Through the development of rapid identification process, this study provided technical support for the identification of solid wastes and customs port supervision of imported recycling for copper-containing materials.
