Effect of Molecular Weight Distribution of α,ω-Dihydroxy Polydimethylsiloxane on Properties of One-Component Dealcoholized Silicone Sealant
Four types of α,ω-dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane with similar viscosities and different molecular weight distribu-tions were used as base polymer to prepare one-component dealcoholized silicone sealant. The results show that as the molecular weight distribution of polysiloxane widens, there is no difference in the surface drying time of the sealant, but the Shore hardness increases, while the tensile strength, shear strength, and maximum strength elongation decrease. The silicone sealant shows ex-cellent performance at-30℃,and the tensile strength and maximum strength elongation increases when the molecular weight dis-tribution index is 1.97.
