Effect of Precipitated Barium Sulfate on Silicone Sealant
The deketoxime silicone sealant was prepared with α,ω-dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane and dimethylsilicone oil as raw materials, precipitated barium sulphate and nano-calcium carbonate as fillers, silane coupling agent and catalysts. The effects of precipitated barium sulfate on the tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus, extrusion and appearance of silicone sealants were investigated. The results show that the prepared sealant decreases significantly in the tensile strength and elongation at break, while the extrudability increases significantly, when the precipitated barium sulfate getting more and more in the seal-ant.The silicone sealant has the optimum appearance and mechanical properties when the precipitated barium sulphate is 25wt%.
