Effect of Aluminum Hydroxide on Flame Retardancy of Thermally Conductive Silicone Encapsulant
Using aluminum hydroxide(ATH)as a flame retardant and aluminum oxide(Al2O3)as a thermally conductive filler, the two-component silicone encapsulant was prepared. The effect of ATH particle size and filling amount on the properties of silicone encapsulant were investigated. The results show that the flame retardancy, viscosity and thermal stability of silicone encapsulant decrease with the increase of ATH particle size while the thermal conductivity changes little. As the mass fraction of ATH in the fillers increases, the flame retardancy, viscosity and thermal stability of the silicone encapsulant are improved, while the thermal conductivity remains the same.Using different particle sizes of ATH to prepare silicone encapsulant with the same thermal conductivity and same vertical combustion level(FV-0),the minimum filling amount of ATH increases with the increase of its particle size.
