Dual coping status of front-line nursing staff in Zhengzhou City during the outbreak of COVID-19:a mixed study
Objective To investigate the dual coping status of front-line nursing staff in Zhengzhou City during the out-break of COVID-19,so as to provide reference for targeted and multi-directional interventions.Methods A cross-sectional study design was adopted.General information questionnaire was carried out,and front-line nursing staff who worked in the temporary designated treatment hospital of COVID-19 in Zhengzhou from October 21 to November 30,2022 were selected as research objects.A survey was conducted by general information questionnaire,dual coping scale,psychological resilience scale,work related quality of life scale,and social support scale.In addition,a qualitative research design was adopt,and purposive sampling method was used to select 12 pairs of nursing staff and their spouses with a total score of over 145 points on the dual coping scale for semi-structured interviews.Results The total score of dual coping among 128 front-line nursing staff was(131.90±18.43)points,which was at a moderate level;psychological resilience,social support,and work related quality of life were all positively correlated with dual coping(P<0.05);position,per capita monthly income of the family,the needs of parental care,psychological resilience,and social support were the main influencing factors for the dual coping of front-line nursing staff(adjusted R2=0.329,P<0.05).Qualitative research extracted 3 themes(the negative experience brought by the repeated outbreaks of COVID-19 in Zhengzhou,multi-dimensional challenges during the work of designated treatment hospitals,and active response)and 8 sub themes.Conclusion The dual coping of front-line nursing staff during the outbreak of COVID-19 is affected by many factors.Hospital managers should pay attention to and timely evaluate the dual coping status of front-line nursing staff and provide multi-dimensional intervention measures such as increasing incentive mechanism of position promotion,social support and training of stress communication between their spouses,so as to promote their psychosomatic health and improve the quality of nursing work.
