Study on the optimal efficiency of airway clearance technique combined with bronchoscopic bronchoalveolar lavage in elderly patients with hypostatic pneumonia
Objective To explore the optimal efficiency of airway clearance technology combined with bronchoscopic bronchoalveolar lavage in elderly patients with hypostatic pneumonia.Methods A prospective study was conducted on 112 elderly patients with hypostatic pneumonia who were treated at the Workers'Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from January 2023 to February 2024.All patients were divided into two groups by simple random method.Experimental group(n=55)were treated with airway clearance technology combined with bronchoscopy bronchoalveolar lavage,while con-trol group(n=57)were treated with simple bronchoscopy bronchoalveolar lavage.Relevant data on elderly patients with hy-postatic pneumonia were collected,and the clinical efficacy of the two treatment methods was compared.Results There was no statistically significant difference in basic conditions(age,gender,nutritional assessment,self-care ability,pneumonia evaluation,semi-quantitative cough ability evaluation)between the experimental group and the control group(P＞0.05).The improvement rate of symptoms,vital signs,and lung CT examination results at 72 hours after treatment in the experimen-tal group were significantly better than those in the control group,and difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Ser-um C-reactive protein in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the use of antibiotics be-tween the two groups during the onset of the disease(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the etiolo-gy of sputum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid between the two groups after treatment(P＞0.05).Conclusion Airway clearance technology combined with bronchoscopic bronchoalveolar lavage is more effective compared with simple broncho-scopic lung lavage in the treatment of elderly patients with hypostatic pneumonia.
