Investigation and analysis of the nutritional cognition status of patients with gynecological malignancies
Objective To explore the status quo and influencing factors of nutritional cognition in patients with gyneco-logical malignant tumors. Methods Inpatients with gynecological malignancies such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and endometrial cancer who were admitted to the gynecology and oncology departments from June to November,2023 were select-ed.After literature review and expert consultation,a self-made nutrition knowledge questionnaire was made, which included 16 items such as general information and nutrition related knowledge.During the survey, the trained investigators fully ex-plained the purpose, content and cooperation points of this study to the patients and issued a questionnaire.Interference fac-tors were avoided during survey process, and the incomplete questionnaire was removed to ensure the authenticity of data after the questionnaire was collected. Results More than half of the patients(50.82%)considered themselves to have some de-gree of malnutrition, while a significant proportion of patients(60.66%)believed that it was necessary to strengthen their own nutritional intakes. In terms of the cognition of nutritional supplement,9.02%of patients agreed to obtain nutrition only through intravenous infusion, while 3.28%of patients believed that vegetarian food was enough to meet their nutritional needs. In addition,76.23%of patients held the view that cancer patients should prioritize consuming food and soup, rather than just limited to soup base, because the former was more nutritious.Meanwhile,62.30%of patients equated supplements with nutrients.Regarding the acquisition of nutrition knowledge, nearly half(48.36%)of the patients obtained it through the experience of others, nearly half(45.90%)obtained it through the education of medical staff, and the vast majority(82.79%)of patients'nutrition knowledge mainly came from personal habits. Conclusion Patients with gynecological ma-lignant tumors have insufficient nutrition cognition and few accesses to nutrition knowledge. It is necessary to strengthen pub-licity and education, improve the level of nutrition-related knowledge, and actively cooperate with nutrition therapy interven-tion to improve the treatment effect and quality of life.
