Material Composition Characteristics of Uranium Ore From Telaaobao Mineral Occurrence,Northwestern Ordos Basin
The Lower Cretaceous Huanhe Formation in the northwestern part of Ordos Basin is a newly discovered"horizon"for uranium ore exploration. This article conducted a detailed petrological and mineralogical research on the host sandstone of the Lower Cretaceous Huanhe Formation in the Telaaobao mineral occurrence so as to provide comprehensive and basic geological information for elucidating the uranium mineralization mechanism and expanding the regional exploration space in the region.Uranium minerals in sandstone with different colors are mainly coffinite, with organic matter mainly consisting of small amounts of carbon debris and fluid dynamic organic matter. However, metal minerals,non-metallic minerals, and clay minerals are diverse and have significant differences in various types of ores.It was believed that the sedimentary environment in the production area and surrounding areas of the Telaaobao mineral occurrence was an atypical and high sand content sedimentary environment of the discernible river delta. The uranium mineralization process has multiple sources of ore-forming fluids, and the mineralization process is complex.Gray-green sandstone has at least undergone a process of reduction-oxidation-rereduction.
