Characteristics and Ore-controlling Factors of Uranium Mineralization in Telaaobao Area,Northern Ordos Basin
Ordos Basin is an important uranium bearing basin in China. In 2019,a new breakthrough was achieved in the exploration of Lower Cretaceous Huanhe Formation in Telaaobao area of the northern part of Ordos Basin. The article studied the petrological and mineralization characteristics of sandstone in the ore bearing strata of Telaaobao occurrences, analyzed the controlling factors, and provided the prospecting clues for expanding new breakthroughs in uranium exploration in the region.Research found that the ore bearing strata in Telaaobao area were mainly in the upper section of Lower Cretaceous Huanhe Formation, with the main ore bearing rock types being green brown, brownish green medium sandstone, and fine sandstone;Uranium ore bodies occurred in multiple layers, and uranium mineralization was characterized by multiple stages; The main body of uranium mineralization was controlled by the interlayer oxidation zone from north to south, and the spatial positioning of the ore body was also jointly controlled by factors such as the heterogeneity of the sand body and rock geochemistry.
