Effects of Biochar on the Growth and Development of Corn Millet under Different Phosphate Fertilizer Conditions
In order to study the effects of biochar on the growth and development of corn millet under different phos-phorus fertilizer dosages,a field plot experiment was conducted in which four phosphorus fertilizer dosages 0 kg/hm2,50 kg/hm2,100 kg/hm2,150 kg/hm2(P0,P50,P100,P150)were set. Each phosphorus fertilizer dosage treatment included contros(CK)and biochar(BC,15 t/hm2)addition treatment,a total of 8 treatments. Results show that(1)the corn millet plant height, stem thickness, leaf shape index of agronomic traits increase with the in-crease of applying phosphate content presented lower after increase first, and P100 + BC(P2O5,100 kg/hm2,BC,15 t/hm2)processing of corn millet plant height, stem diameter and leaf area, leaf length, leaf width;could significantly increase.(2)The root index data of corn millet first increased and then decreased with the increase of phosphorus fertilizer application;Compared with the control treatment, biochar treatment significantly improved root surface area, root length, root volume and mean root diameter of corn millet. The root surface area, root length, root volume and mean root diameter of corn millet treated with P100+BC showed the best root growth, and the root surface area, root length, root volume and mean root diameter were 218.87±14.31 cm2,853.59±32.12 mm,5.34±0.65 cm3,0.99±0.14 mm,respectively.Compared with the control treatment,it was increased by 19.94%,26.90%,26.84%and 32.03%,respectively.(3)Compared with the control treatment, biochar addition significantly increased the biomass and yield of corn millet. The highest biomass and yield was 2911.76±56.33 kg/hm2 under P100+BC treatment, which was 23.01%higher than that under P100+CK treatment. In conclusion, under the condition of a Phosphorus fertilizer dosage of 100 kg/hm2,the addition of biochar has the most significant effect on the growth and development of corn millet.
