As a representative science fiction work of Villeneuve,the Dune series of movies presents a retro future landscape for the post pandemic era under a grand temporal and spatial framework,whose implicit cultural symp-toms provide a cognitive aesthetic presentation for the uncertain world of globalization.Compared to the Wandering Earth series,the Dune series within the classic narrative framework of Hollywood provides different future narra-tives,reflecting the different imaginations of the East and the West towards the future.The retro future in the movie is not only a continuation of history,but also presents a unique crisis awareness in the post pandemic era in the ad-aptation of the original work.Starting from the own experience of the Third World,the potential polyphony in film narratives opens up another possibility for us to rethink"fate"and"freedom"in the era.
