A Study of Chengtianrenhui Ju Yaofang and the Integration of Medical Traditions Between Southern and Northern Regions During the Yuan Dynasty
This paper aimed to probe into the book of medical prescriptions known as ChengtianRenhui Ju Yaofang, produced by a medical officer(taiyiyuanshi)of the Imperial Medical Office(taiyiyuan)during the Yuan dynasty in 1330.The book has since been lost;however, according to the preface created by the literati Yu Ji,it is suggested that a total of nine books of medical prescriptions from previous dynasties are referenced. These are further classified into three categories as follows:those of the medical prescriptions from the Imperial Medical Office of the Yuan court, those based on medical traditions of the southern Song dynasty, and those from northern medical traditions of the Jin and Yuan dynasties. This suggests, therefore, that ChengtianRenhui Ju Yaofang reflected a medical trend aimed at the integration of medical traditions between southern and northern regions during the Yuan dynasty.
