Radiation Level Testing of Elekta Axesse Medical Linear Accelerator
Due to the high radiation level of medical linear accelerators during usage,in order to ensure the safety of radiation therapy, before medical linear accelerators are put into use, their radiation level test need to be carried out by medical institutions. In this paper, the radiation level of the newly configured Axesse medical linear accelerator in Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University was tested, including the protection level and ventilation condition test.In addition,an analysis was conducted on the potential radiation hazards for relevant personnel and the public. The results showed that the air kerma rates measured at each monitoring site were all below the minimum limit(10 μSv/h),and the air kerma rates measured at the control room monitoring sites were all below the minimum limit(2.5 μSv/h).The frequency of air exchange in the machine room was 4.9 times/h,which met the requirements of the index(>4 times/h).During normal operation of linear accelerators, the doses to people outside the machine room were lower than the dose limits of the national standard. Therefore, the linear accelerator is safe and reliable.
