The Design and Testing of a Bite Force Detection System Based on Thin Film Force Sensitive Resistors
With the bite force as an important indicator for measuring chewing function,at present, there are no widely used bite force detection products in clinical practice. In this study,a bite force detection system was designed using a high-precision data acquisition card and LabWindows/CVI program, with the use of thin film force sensitive resistors(FSR)as sensors. In addition,pressure-voltage response characteristics and human bite tests were conducted within the pressure range of 50-500 N.The results showed that the system had a good linear response, with an average relative error of 8.2%in pressure measurement,a sensitivity of 344.827 N/V,a resolution power of 1.68 N,and convenient bite installation. It could clearly distinguish the differences in bite force among 5 subjects, which had practical application potential.
