The Differential Diagnostic Value of CT Image Texture Parameters for Benign and Malignant Pulmonary Nodules
Objective To explore the differential diagnostic value of CT image texture parameters for benign and malignant pulmonary nodules(PN).Methods With the retrospective analysis of the medical records of 97 PN patients admitted to the hospital from March 2021 to December 2023,97 patients were diagnosed through pathological examination, with 55 patients with malignant PN as the malignant group and 42 patients with benign PN as the benign group. Both groups of patients underwent CT examination on admission, and the texture parameters of CT images were analyzed. With the comparison of the texture parameters of CT images from two groups, the Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the differential diagnostic value of CT image texture parameters for benign and malignant PN.Results The texture energy, entropy, entropy sum,and entropy difference of CT images in the malignant group were higher than those in the benign group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);There were no statistically significant differences in texture contrast and correlation between the two groups of CT images(P>0.05).The ROC analysis results showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of energy, entropy, entropy sum,and entropy difference for individual and combined differential diagnosis of benign and malignant PN were all greater than 0.70,indicating certain diagnostic value. The best diagnostic value could be obtained when the cutoff values of each parameter were 0.805,1.585,0.210,and 1.005,respectively.Conclusion The energy, entropy, entropy sum and entropy difference of the texture parameters of CT images have certain value in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant PN.
