The Application of Indirect Measurement Method Based on Ultrasonic Flow Meter in Flow Calibration of Infusion Pump
Objective To compare the application effects of indirect measurement method based on ultrasonic flow meter and direct measurement method using infusion equipment analyzer in flow calibration of infusion pumps. Methods With the flow calibration for the tested infusion pump according to JJF 1259-2018"Calibration Specification for Medical Injection and Infusion Pumps",using an infusion equipment analyzer for direct measurement and an ultrasonic flowmeter for indirect measurement, the relative measurement error and measurement time of the two methods were compared. Results The measurement time of indirect measurement method was significantly shorter than that of direct measurement method. However, the indirect measurement method had relatively large errors in the low flow calibration range(10-200 ml/h).After analyzing and improving the reasons that may cause relatively large errors in the indirect measurement method, the relative errors of the indirect measurement at each calibration point were reduced to an acceptable range. Conclusion In the calibration of infusion pump flow rate, the use of ultrasonic flowmeter for indirect measurement can effectively shorten the measurement time while ensuring the accuracy of calibration, providing a more effective and convenient method of intermediate verification for medical institutions with high usage of infusion pumps.
