Response of Light Use Efficiency and Water Production Efficiency of Maize in Oasis Irrigation Areas to Strip Mulching with Plastic Film and Straw
In response to the problem of reduced light use efficiency and water production benefits caused by long-term plastic film mulching in Hexi Oasis irrigation areas,a study was conducted involving two tillage practices(no-tillage and conventional tillage)and five mulching modes(full-film mulching,70%plastic film mulching and 30%straw mulching,70%plastic film mulching and 30%no mulching,50%plastic film mulching and 50%straw mulching,50%plastic film mulching and 50%no mulching). The study showed that the most obvious regulatory ef-fect of no-tillage with 70%plastic film mulching and 30%straw mulching(NTP7S3),which increased the total leaf area duration of maize throughout the whole growth stage of maize by 8.7%compared with that of the conventional tillage with full-film mulch(CTP)treatment, increased maize grain yield and biomass by 4.6%and 2.2%,light use efficiency and water use efficiency per cubic meter irrigation water were also increased by 5.2%and 4.5%.In addi-tion,NTP7S3 increased the output value, net income,input-output ratio, and benefit per cubic meter irrigation wa-ter by 9.2%,7.7%,10.0%,and 9.2%.Therefore,no-tillage with 70%plastic film mulching and 30%straw mulch-ing can improve maize yield, irrigation water and light use efficiency while reducing the inputs of mulch and me-chanical inputs, and it is a suitable tillage and mulching mode in oasis irrigation areas.
