The governance of an aged society is an important aspect of our national strategy in active response to population ag-ing.The construction of China's governance evaluation index system for an aged society is of great significance to promote the modernization of the governance system and governance capacity for an aged society.Based on the connotations of the govern-ance of an aged society and the relevant researches,including the coping measures as well as the academic findings since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,this paper gives an incisive analysis of the four dimensions of the gov-ernance subject,the governance ability,the governance process and the governance performance,and constructs an index sys-tem including 15 element levels and 65 indicator levels.The paper uses the AHP entropy method to calculate the weight of the index system and evaluate the governance level of China's aged society.The results show that the levels for governing the aged society in China vary from place to place.The coupling and coordination analysis concludes that the coupling and coordination degree for governing the aged society in China is generally low,and the slow development of the governance subjects is the key cause that restricts the improvement of the governance.Thus,it is necessary to further promote high-quality economic develop-ment,strengthen the Party building as the guidance,and improve the co-governance mechanism and the governance efficiency for an aged society.
