The environmental pollution of Lake Dongting has been analyzed in respect of water body,sediment,soil and organism.The result shows that the lake water body is mainly polluted by nitrogen and phosphorus,while the sediment and soil are polluted by the heavy metals like Cd and Cu.It is thought that the main causes for the pollution are pollutant discharge,geological conditions,external pollution source and reduced pollutant receptive capacity.The relative pollution control measures are proposed in this paper.
