The Development of Paramichela baillonii Artificial Forestry
We studied the development of 14 year old artificial forestry of Paramichela baillonii tree in Puwen Forest Farm by the way of standard trunk section. It showed that these 14 year old trees were 14. 10 cm in DBH (diameter at breast height) in average, and tree height 16.40 m, at average density of 1 140 trees/hm2 , and stand mass reached 144. 78 mVhm2. We found that their DBH begin to differentiate at about 2 ~3 year old of the trees and it was significant when at 5 year old. While that of tree height was not significant at 14 year old, showing a fast growth character. Thus we recommanded adjusting stand density about the age of 5 of the trees. We also found that some of dominant trees were 5. 25 m higher than average height of the trees, and 6. 70 cm larger in DBH, and individual mass was 3. 10 times larger than that of average ones, showing strong beneficial in artificial selection of Paramichela baillonii trees. We obtained a regression function of DBH and mass as V =0. 116 439 -0. 020 579D + 0. 001 449D2, and tree height and mass as V =2. 342 4 -0. 290 614H +0. 009 286H2.
