Diurnal Time Behavior Differences of Mature and Sub-mature Captive Bengal Tiger
The study on diurnal time behavior of captive Bengal tiger was conducted on 7 individuals from December 2005 to August 2006 at Yunnan Wildlife Zoo. We used all-occurrence recording and instantaneous scanning sampling to record the behavior of Bengal tiger. The results indicated that the time budget of the mature and sub-mature individual was different. Compared with the sub-mature tiger, the mature tiger spent more time on sleeping and less time on resting, walking, eating and other behaviors. The activity rhythm showed the similar characteristics , with two peak periods of both resting and walking, one obvious peak period of sleeping.
