The Distribution and Structural Characteristics of Ancient ginkgo in Tengchong County
The distribution , quantity and structural characteristics of the ancient ginkgo in Tengchong County of Yunnan Province were analyzed , through interview , literature review and field investigation .The results showed that there were more than 3 000 ancient trees of Ginkgo biloba distributed in Tengchong county , especially in Jietou township and Gudong township .There were 107 ancient ginkgo trees with growth indexes , and among which , fe-male trees accounted for 94.34 %. The highest and shortest tree was 30.0 m and 9.5 m in height respectively . The oldest tree was 610 years.The maximum DBH was 3.08 m.The maximum average crown was up to 18.8 m. There were 82 chichi ginkgo trees , and among with the maximum number of chichies was 78 of the single plant and the biggest chichi was as long as 0.70 m.There were 56 mult-trunk ginkgoes , and among which the maximum number of mult-trunks was 15 of the single plant and the DBH of the biggest mult-trunk was 0.95 m.There were 4 of Ginkgo biloba var.epiphylla trees.
