Leaf Characters and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Bombax ceiba Linnaeus Seedlings in Different Habitats
Leaf traits and photosynthetic characteristics of plants will adjust the trade-off allocation mechanism to adapt to heterogeneous habitats. Two year old Bombax ceiba Linnaeus seedlings in Mengla and Yuanjiang areas of Yunnan Province were selected as the research objects.10 leaf traits, including leaf area, leaf width, leaf fresh weight and leaf water content, and On the spot,6 photosynthetic parameters were measured, including net photosyn-thetic rate(Pn),transpiration rate(Tr)and stomatal conductance(Gs).The differences and relationships among them in different habitats were analyzed to explore the response of photosynthetic characteristics to leaf traits. The results showed that there were significant differences(P<0.05)and correlations(P<0.05,P<0.01)in leaf traits and photosynthetic characteristics of B.ceiba Linnaeus seedlings in different habitats. The observed indices of leaf traits had a strong influence on the photosynthetic characteristics of B.ceiba Linnaeus, and leaf width, fresh leaf weight, specific leaf area and saturated weight had a higher explanation rate to the photosynthetic characteristics of B.ceiba Linnaeus, which were the main leaf traits affecting the photosynthetic characteristics of B.ceiba Linnaeus seedlings. The result indicate that the differences and responses of leaf traits and photosynthetic characteristics in different habitats indicate different survival strategies of plants in response to environmental changes.
