The difficulty of writing Chinese characters by hand has been a longstanding challenge in international Chinese-language education. The development of computers, the internet and artificial intelligence has made the integration of such technologies into Chinese teaching a common practice."Electronic writing"has emerged as a promising approach to address the difficulty of writing Chinese characters by hand, drawing significant attention from the international Chinese teaching community in recent years. This study focuses on the typing errors in Pinyin made by Canadian elementary school students, categorizing these errors into four major types(21 subtypes):character shape, phonetics, grammar, and input methods. The causes of these errors are also analyzed.Based on these findings,we propose corresponding teaching strategies, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of Pinyin typing, and explore the characteristics of international Chinese-language education in the era of elec-tronic writing.
