With the quick development of digital and artificial intelligence technologies,electronic de-vices like computers and smartphones have become an inseparable part in our daily life,workplaces,and learning activities.The transformation from hand-writing to E-writing has reduced the difficulty of learning Chinese characters,improved the efficiency of information processing,and profoundly changed the ways of learning and teaching Chinese characters.This paper explores the transformation process from hand-writing to E-writing,and the profound impacts of hand-writing and E-writing on the ways of learning and teaching Chinese characters,analyzes the merits and weaknesses of E-writing,points out the problems deserving concern and research in the E-writing era from different perspectives,and calls for interdisciplinary and empirical studies on the problems related to the cognition of Chinese characters.
