The Dilemma of Modernity in the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage and its Solution Approaches
The issue of modernity in the context of China faces more complex theoretical and practical problems than that in the West,which requires not only a clarification of the complex entanglement between modernity and tradition,but also a correct understanding and handling of the inherent ten-sion between universality and particularity.In the practice of intangible cultural heritage protection,the above structural tension is particularly evident.Although modernity in China provides certain op-portunities for the protection of intangible cultural heritage,its limitations also bring multiple chal-lenges to the protection of intangible cultural heritage.In the context of modernity and due to the fun-damental influence of such factors as detachment mechanisms,trust systems,reflective monitoring and institutional systems,the protection of intangible cultural heritage faces the dilemma of path de-pendency,insufficient endogenous motivation for protection,and fragmented protection objects.Therefore,in order to overcome various difficulties in the protection of intangible cultural heritage in the context of modernity,it is necessary to start from the reconstruction of the market system,the reshaping of the social trust system,and the improvement of reflective mechanisms in order to en-hance the driving force of intangible cultural heritage protection,reshape the cultural ecology,and ul-timately promote the creative transformation and innovative development of intangible cultural herit-age.
