Art and Folklore in the Perspective of Life Structure:A Case Study of Xiaozhang Bamboo Hobbyhorse in Central Shandong Province
The bamboo hobbyhorse performance held on the eighth day of the first lunar month in Western Xiaozhang Village in central Shandong province is an important carrier for the emotional and social communication among the villagers, and also highlights the profound influence of the state poli-tics on folk traditions.By utilizing Heinrich Rombach's theory of"life structure",this paper analyzes how rural elites use the historical memory to establish connections between Xiaozhang Bamboo hobby-horse and the state politics and the local society to reveal how this folk tradition plays its role of social construction while keeping pace with the times.Xiaozhang Bamboo hobbyhorse is not a single cultural form or static cultural heritage, but a hybrid cultural form and vivid social practice that mix multiple elements such as"art"and"folklore".Because of its marginal position in modern academic research, its social value and academic significance are easily underestimated or even ignored. We should reso-lutely abandon relevant academic biases and cognitive misunderstandings, start from the perception of thevillagers towards their living world, integrate their art, folklore andother elements of multi-log-ics in the field of life structure, explore the villager's deep intention structure and action logic, fully release the academic significance of this case, use it as a basis for reflecting on and breaking through the limitations of the modern academic norms dominated by the Western theories, explore the aca-demic paradigm with a more explanatory power, and contribute to the construction of the academic discourse system with Chinese characteristics.
