Reversion and Adaptation:Interpreting Chinese Literary Theory from Modern Civilization with Pragmatic Approaches
Creating a new form of human civilization is one of the essential requirements for Chinese path to modernization summarized in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. How Chinese literary theory communicates between the ancient and modern, exchanges between China and the West, how it borrows and absorbs outstanding achievements of human civilization, and thus forms a new form of human civilization, are important topics and directions that need to be carefully considered and researched at present.Based on cultural research and keyword research methods,Chinese literature theory can highlight its academic contribution and application value from both"reversion"and"adaptation"perspectives on modern civilization. The three key elements of historical evolution of Chinese literary theory:"perspective on human studies","reversion is the action of Tao","meaning beyond words",provide a theoretical basis for understanding, change, and accessibility for its current construction.By integrating academic spirit with instrumental rationality as well as humanistic spirit with academic ethics,Chinese literary theory can propose possible directions in terms of adherence to tradition, civilization transformation, theoretical accessibility, methodological shifts, and mutual learning between China and foreign countries,to address Chinese practical problems including what the real world is,what scholars'responsibilities and obligations are,and what we should be done at present.
