The adapted comics of Red Literature during the "Seventeen Years" period played a historically significant role in constructing national identity. The core of constructing national identity lies in building an imagined community of the nation through social interactions between the people and the state,as well as among the people. After undergoing systematic transformation by the state, these comics received institutional support for the concretization of state ideology. They established a visual rhetoric mechanism centered on shaping the subjectivity of the masses, providing it with lofty value standards. Through the image-based narratives, they created a therapeutic emotional identification mechanism that transitioned from suffering to rebirth, thereby facilitating the further consolidation of the new national community. Besides,by achieving a high degree of congruence between heroic figures and the image of the state, the comics deepened the national identity of the masses.
