Study of Phonetics,Semantics and Pragmatics in Chinese Folk Song Lyrics:A Case Study of Chengkou Folk Songs in Chongqing
The language(dialect)embedded within folk song lyrics serves as a potent instrument for uncovering the unique local char-acteristics of folk songs.Phonetics,semantics,and pragmatics represent three pivotal aspects within the realm of musical language a-nalysis.This study elucidates the intrinsic relationship between language and music,demonstrating their symbiotic nature and mutual evolution,by examining the acoustic properties(sound),cultural connotations,and societal functions.Through a comprehensive in-vestigation of the phonetics,semantics,and pragmatics of Chengkou folk songs in Chongqing,this research endeavors to reveal the profound impact of local linguistic features on both the musical structure and cultural significance of folk songs.Phonetics pertains to the pronunciation and acoustic attributes of the Chengkou dialect,directly influencing the musical composition of folk songs.By me-ticulously scrutinizing and comparing the phonetic characteristics,including tone,rhyme,and pronunciation,of the Chengkou dia-lect,this study unveils the significant role in shaping and embodying the distinctiveness of Chengkou folk songs.Dialect semantics delves into the interpretation of linguistic symbols within specific cultural contexts,elucidating the profound influence on the melodic expression of folk songs.Notably,commonplace vocabulary undergoes semantic transformations within the unique cultural milieu of Chengkou,assuming specialized thematic roles within folk song melodies and imbuing them with distinctive semantic hues.Pragmatics refers to the norms and principles governing language usage within particular cultural context,exerting latent influences on musical structure and cultural characteristics of Chengkou folk songs.Collectively,these three dimensions delineate the regional cultural idio-syncrasies of Chengkou folk songs,thereby shaping the musical form and cultural essence of other forms of folk music.
