Listening to the Drama:Supplement to the Study on Yunnan Modern Drama
The dimension of"listening"is a new point of view in the study of the history of modem drama in Yunnan,which en-tered the broadcasting era in 1932 with the establishment of the Radio Bureau of the Yunnan Provincial Government.This enriched the means of dissemination of drama in Yunnan,and from then on,in addition to"watching"drama,"listening"to drama also participated in constituting the public cultural service system of Yunnan.From then on,in addition to"watching"theater,"listen-ing"to theater also participated in the formation of Yunnan's public cultural service system.Between 1932 and 1949,the catego-ries of Yunnan's radio theater involved different types,such as Dian Opera,Ping Opera(Peking Opera),Cantonese Opera,Si-chuan Opera,Kunqu Opera,and other dramas.This new mode of communication was gradually popularized from the elite level to the public level,through the process of"listening"to the radio,to"listening"to radio in tea houses,to"listening"singing drama in tea houses,and to"watching"drama in tea houses,which became a complete chain.In this way,Yunnan modem theater has gone through the process from"seeing"to"listening"and from"listening"to"seeing"again.In this process,"listening"the theater reflects multiple awareness of the individual,society,the country,and the theater itself.
