Although Yu Pingbo's academic research focused on the red studies,his achievements in the field of Kunqu have also been sufficient as he left behind more than 30 preface,letters,recollections,comments and theoretical articles related to Kunqu.On the one hand,Yu Pingbo had a deep insight into the artistic value of Kunqu and offered many insights into the present and fu-ture development of Kunqu;on the other hand,Yu Pingbo constructed basic theoretical framework for the study of Kunqu from a scholar's point of view,and,as a musician,explored the technical aspects of the artistic practice of composing lyrics and singing music.
