何心冷一生以电影批评家与报纸编辑两种身份活跃于电影界.作为电影批评家,他受新思潮影响,肩负起用电影传播五四精神之责;对国产影片展开批评,倡导创作有中国特色的电影,其所秉承理性的民族主义精神值得重新思考;针对电影行当及产业进行分析,给出可行性建议,何心冷对于电影艺术的思考,常有独到见解;作为报纸编辑,他依托《国闻周报》《大公报》,刊载讨论电影的文章,向读者普及电影文化知识,并号召电影院放映改良,劝勉观众形成良好的观影习惯,实质上建构了一个众声喧哗的公共空间.不管是在上海,还是在天津,他对于电影传播所做出的功绩,都值得后人铭记.
Journalists'Conceptions of Film Criticism in the 1920s and Their Historical Contributions:Taking He Xinleng As an Example
He Xinleng was active in the film industry as both a film critic and a newspaper editor.As a film critic,he was influ-enced by the new trend of thinking and took the responsibility of spreading the spirit of the May Fourth Movement through films.He criticized domestic films and advocated the creation of films with Chinese characteristics,so that his spirit of nationalism is worth rethinking.He analyzed the film business and industry and gave feasible suggestions,and he often had unique insights into the art of cinema.As an editor of newspapers,relied on the Weekly News and Ta Kung Pao,he published articles discussing film so as to popularize the knowledge of film culture to readers,and he called for the improvement of cinema screening.Furthermore,he called up the audience to form good movie-watching habits,essentially constructing a public space for the free expression of all voices.Whether in Shanghai or in Tianjin,his contribution to the dissemination of movies is worthy of being remembered by future genera-tions.
