At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,the country was in great crisis,and in order to save the country,a revolutionary trend emerged in the field of fine arts which was the sound of"fine arts revolution".Cai Yuan-pei was one of the most important pioneers,who integrated the fine arts revolution with the national salvation,believing that fine arts not only had aesthetic pleasure,but also enlightenment and morality.For the sake of enlightenment,he held up the banner of aesthetic education,replacing religion with aesthetic education in the hope that aesthetic education would open up the people's minds and realize self-reliance and self-improvement of the nation.Due to the difficulties of the times,his ambition has not been fulfilled,but his theories and practices are still beneficial to the construction of spiritual civilization in China nowadays.
