The incidence of nervous system diseases in the increase by years,with headache,memory loss,pa-ralysis and epilepsy as the typical symptoms,has become the second leading cause of death in the world.Due to the complex pathogenesis,the current clinical treatment of various neurological diseases is still conservative.Finding and developing new therapeutic drugs for nervous system diseases has become a hot issue.Saponins are a kind of common active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine.A variety of saponins have been shown to have good neuroprotective effects,such as ginsenoside,astragalus saponin,saikosaponin,diosgenin,etc.This paper reviewes,analyzes and summarizes the studies on the neuroprotective effects of Chinese saponins in recent years in order to provide reference for the research and development of drugs for the treatment of nervous system diseases.
