Effects of Lithium Carbonate Combined with Ziprasidone on Cognitive Function and Serum Levels of BDNF and NSE in Patients with Schizophrenia
Objective To investigate the effects of lithium carbonate combined with Ziprasidone on cognitive function and serum levels of brain-derived nerve growth factor(BDNF)and neuron-specific enolase(NSE)in patients with mental disorders. Methods A total of 86 patients with schizophrenia(from December 2020 to December 2022)were admitted to Xinxiang Psychiatric Hospital. The patients were divided into routine group and observation group by random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The conventional group was treated with ziprasidone, and the observation group was treated with lithium carbonate combined with ziprasidone. The clinical efficacy, positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS),comprehensive quality of life rating scale(GQOLI-74),schizophrenia cognitive function test(MCCB)scores, neuroelectrophysiological indexes(P300 latency,P300 amplitude,N2-P3 latency,N2-P3 amplitude),and neurophysiological indexes,Serum BDNF,NSE,sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG),nerve cell adhesion molecule(NCAM)levels, the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group was 90.70%higher than that of conventional group(72.09%)(P<0.05).After 2 months of treatment,PANSS scores in observation group were lower than those in conventional group,GQOLI-74 and MCCB scores were higher than those in conventional group(P<0.05);the latency of P300 and N2-P3 in observation group was shorter than that in conventional group, and the amplitude of P300 and N2-P3 was larger than that in conventional group(P<0.05);the levels of BDNF and NCAM in the observation group were higher than those in the conventional group, while the levels of NSE and SHBG were lower than those in the conventional group(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 11.63%compared with 9.30%in the conventional group, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Lithium carbonate combined with ziprasidone is effective in the treatment of schizophrenia, which can effectively relieve clinical symptoms, improve neuroelectrophysiological function, promote the recovery of the disease, and do not significantly increase adverse reactions.
