Preliminary Study on Gastrointestinal Motility of Phyllanthus Urinaria Water Decoction
Objective To study gastrointestinal motility of phyllanthus urinaria water decoction. Methods The effects on the gastric and intestinal motility of phyllanthus urinaria water decoction were observed by using the experimental methods of gastric emptying and intestinal propulsive movement in mice in vivo, and the experimental methods of rabbit jejunal tube in vitro and guinea pig stomach in vitro. Results Low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose(2.5,5.0,10.0 g/kg)groups of phyllanthus urinaria water decoction were significantly reduced the residual rate in the stomach of mice in vivo, and also significantly increased the percentage of small intestinal forward movement compared to the normal control group, with significant differences(P<0.05).In vitro experiment, after administration of phyllanthus urinaria water decoction, the contraction amplitude of the isolated rabbit intestinal smooth muscle was significantly increased compared with that before administration(P<0.01),and the contraction frequency and amplitude of the guinea pig gastric fundus circular muscle were significantly increased compared with that before the administration, the difference was also statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion Phyllanthus urinaria water decoction has obvious effects on gastric emptying and intestinal motility.
