The Efficacy of Hyperbaric Oxygen Combined with Epalrestat and Lipoic Acid on Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective To explore the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen combined with epalrestat and lipoic acid on diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods 80 cases of DPN patients of The First Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi Medical College from January 2021 to December 2023 were collected and divided into observation group(n=40)and control group(n=40)according to random number table method. The control group was treated with epalrestat and lipoic acid,on this basis, the observation group was treated with hyperbaric oxygen. The clinical efficacy, nerve conduction velocity, and symptom severity of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05);the detection values of the ulnar nerve, peroneal nerve, median nerve sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)and motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV)of the two groups after treatment were significantly higher than those before the treatment, the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);after treatment, the two groups neuropathy self-conscious symptoms questionnaire(TSS)scores were significantly lower than before treatment, the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen and the combined treatment of DPN with lipoic acid and epalrestat can improve the efficacy, increase the nerve conduction velocity, and reduce the patient's symptoms.
